Personal Pain Generation with Splitting One’s Conscience by Words and Actions
Love alone cannot eradicate the personal pain of splitting one’s conscience by words and actions.
The greatest commandment is love centric; however, Apostle John teaches us profoundly in 1 John 6:
“For this is love, that we walk according to His commandments; this is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, in which you should walk.”
As we are all aware, the pressing national issue of the day is the presidential election on November 3rd, 2020. As Catholics and Christians prepare to vote, we are commanded by our faith to keep the following in mind:
1. The personal rationalization that one does not believe in abortion and/or LGBTQ+++ sexuality and child indoctrination movements but she/he is justified — using love and other personal reasons for her/his decision — to vote for those in the political arena who are abortion and/or LGBTQ+++ sexuality and child indoctrination advocates, promoters, and enablers. This “voting logic” splits the human conscience by words and actions because of their disintegration in the person. This personal conscience split, which interferes with the promptings of The Holy Spirit, is a self-inflicted pain generator at a minimum each and every time the topic surfaces in discussion with one who is consistent and integrated with words and actions on these issues.
2. Apostle John teaches in 2 John 6 that walking according to all of the commandments — including the love command that Jesus said to his disciples, “Love one another even as I have loved you.” — is the pathway to eternal life. His command requires words and actions to be integrated in the person’s conscience and NOT split from the aiding and abetting of faith-forbidden acts with mixed words and actions that are in direct denial of His commandments.
3. Saint Paul reminds us in 8 Romans 13 concerning The Holy Spirit:
“For if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by The Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
Common sense tells us that love alone is not a pain killer for a personal conscience split. Integration of words and faith-filled actions must be present; otherwise, there is not only self-inflicted pain in life here on earth, there is also aiding and abetting of those advocating grave sins.
